"You've Gotta Get A Gimmick" (GYPSY)

So in the latest issue of VOLLEYBALL magazine, they have a profile of Long Beach. It talks about the beach volleyball scene out there on Long Island and this is the one location where we go almost every Sunday during the summer. So far we've been out there a couple of times this year but we haven't really played much volleyball. This past weekend that changed. I had about 20 friends out there playing in the beautiful weather and I was sad to miss it.

I was not able to make it out to Long Beach this past weekend because we had an annual event to work on--Broadway Bares 17. It's our burlesque show
where we have Broadway's dancers strutting their stuff all for the cause. It was my 8th year and pretty much for most of the staff it's all about going on auto-pilot with what we need to do. For the producers, choreographers, and creative team, they put so much work into this show and it certainly shows. Then to see over 800 people volunteer their time to pull this all together makes this such a huge success. After many hours at Roseland, we finished the two-show night with a total amount raised of $743,000. Another new record.

Even though I did not leave Roseland until 3:30am this morning after being there for 19 hours, we still needed to be back in the office at 10am to pull
apart and unfold sweaty dollar bills that was collected when the dancers did "rotation" on the stage. It took us over six hours to unfold and count over $32,000 that was made on the "rotation." Definitely wore gloves to do this sort of thing.

I had a re-scheduled Mets game ticket for tonight and was thinking I was crazy
for going to it after the crazy schedule we had over the weekend. But I wanted to go because I had not ever been to a Mets game, the last time we tried we got a lot of rain. I was glad that I did because it was just a nice, relaxing evening with a cool breeze and funny friends. It was a good way to wind down the day. And the Mets won the game.
